Groot Opa

Groot Opa came to visit again this year - so awesome! Loved having him here and it was a real blessing. The girls love hanging out with him and fought over who got to sit next to him at the dinner table.
He once again helped in the garden.
Kate got him to play on her Nabi - fruit ninja
He got to see them enjoy themselves on the new trampoline.

One extra thing we did this year was make Thanksgiving dinner with him, I know it is the wrong time of the year but it is such an American tradition that we had to do it in June with him.  It was great to see everyone enjoy the turkey, stuffing, mashed potato, sweet potato and gravy. Audrey was awesome with helping out with that -she did most of the work and even brought the traditional pumpkin pie for desert. It was all delicious!
And Kates joke went perfectly with the scene -

"Why didn't the turkey eat dessert?
                                             because it was stuffed!"

We had to take some family photos of course!

We all had a great time - and you never know - as Opa said till next year ! :)

Anna's 5th Birthday party

Anna turned 5! can you believe it! She had some friends over for a BBQ and mini pool party. and I think she had a lot of fun! It was a great day! Happy Birthday Anna! we are really blessed to have you in our family.

Opa and Oma

Opa and Oma are once again here... So great that they can come each year and stay. so day 1 of them being here we went to 6 flags and I got a few shots, Oma went on the ride with Kate - very cool!

The girls won themselves some capes

We put Opa to work right away... And he taught Kate to swing a little better.

Got the sheep shawn...
Just chilling and playing games - fun fun!

Chicken Festival!

We went to the annual chicken festival - 65 years running though this is the last year :(
Well we had a lot of success, dad sold a guitar and I also sold a lot of my carvings and Kate even made $41 selling her scarves. fantastic 2 days.

Here you see our full table - dad with his guitars, my bone carvings and Kate with he scarves.

Here you see the biggest frying pan 'in the world ' contains 160 gallons of oil and fry's 800 pieces of chicken at one time - and there was still a 2 hour wait for lunch or dinner...

We even made it into the paper for our unique table. Its a first for Kate to be in the paper and one of the few for me too. The photo below was the one in the paper.

Chicken Festival '14
Guitar maker Johan van der Gaag, left, all the way from New Zealand, with several of his instruments. His granddaughter Kate Clemens, 6, of Federalsburg, hold an "Irish Bouzouki", and his daughter Marlies (Kates mom) hold one of his other guitars. Johan van der Gaag is visiting his family here this summer and decided to show his work at the Delmarva Chicken Festival.

Mini vacation

We once again went to the beach for a few days away. This time we were joined by our good friends Mike and Jess and their little girl Sophia. It was a great time away. The girls really loved the beach, Kate mostly loved playing in the sand while Anna loved the water. Jaylee somewhere in between.

I took a few selfies with the girls...

Out for ice cream and then they were out like a light!
